Oklahoma Real Estate Agent / Broker Continuing Education Requirements
Requirements Overview
The Oklahoma Real Estate Commission (OREC) requires 30 hours of continuing education per triennial renewal cycle, following a June 2025 increase from 21 hours. Resident sales associates and broker associates must complete 13 mandatory hours across six categories: Contracts and Forms (6 hrs), Professional Conduct (3 hrs), Broker Relationship Act (1 hr), Code and Rules (1 hr), Fair Housing (1 hr), and Hot Topic (1 hr), plus 17 elective hours. Resident brokers instead complete 15 hours of Broker in Charge CE plus 6 hours of Contracts and Forms and 9 elective hours.
Non-resident licensees have a significantly reduced requirement of just 8 hours (1 hr BRA, 1 hr Code and Rules, 6 hrs Contracts and Forms), provided they hold an active license in another state. Residency is determined by brokerage location, not personal address. Inactive licensees have no CE requirement at all.
Provisional sales associates face a separate 45-hour post-license course requirement that must be completed before license expiration. There are no carry-over provisions, so all hours must be earned within the current 3-year cycle.

Tips for Oklahoma Real Estate Agents
- The CE requirement jumped from 21 to 30 hours as of June 2025 — budget an extra 9 hours compared to your previous cycle, with 6 of those in Contracts and Forms.
- If your brokerage is outside Oklahoma, you may qualify for the reduced 8-hour non-resident requirement even if you live in the state.
- Provisional sales associates must complete their 45-hour post-license course before their license expires — this is separate from and in addition to regular CE.
- Inactive licensees have no CE requirement, but must complete all required hours to reactivate.
