Kansas PE CE (PDH) Requirements (2026): 30 Hours Every 2 Years
Requirements Overview
At least 24 of the 30 CEUs must address health, safety, property, and welfare (HSPW), and no more than 10 HSPW CEUs may be earned in any 24-hour period. The board does not pre-approve courses or providers — the licensee determines whether an activity qualifies, and the board has final approval of credit (K.A.R. 66-14).
Webinars, video courses, and correspondence courses qualify, but a maximum of 5 self-study CEUs — third-party-sponsored and evidenced by a final graded test — count in any one renewal period. Up to 15 excess CEUs carry forward, provided the Continuing Education Audit Report Form and attendance records for the prior period accompany the claim. PE renewals fall on April 30: last names A–L renew in even-numbered years, M–Z in odd-numbered years.

Kansas CE Rules & Limits
Details specific to Kansas that generic CE guides tend to miss:
- Carry-over — If a licensee has over 30 qualifying CEUs in the last renewal, a maximum of 15 qualifying CEUs may be forwarded to the subsequent renewal period. When claiming carry-over CEUs, the Continuing Education Audit Report Form and all attendance verification records for the prior period must also be submitted.
- 1 CEU = one nominal contact hour of instruction or presentation; CEUs are rounded to the nearest half-hour and no activity under a quarter-hour is accepted (Paragraphs 3-4).
- A maximum of five (5) self-study CEUs may be applied in any one renewal period; self-study must be third-party-sponsored with evidence of achievement via a final graded test (Paragraphs 1 and 22).
- At least 24 of the 30 CEUs must be HSPW (health, safety, property, welfare); a maximum of 10 HSPW CEUs may be earned in any 24-hour period (Paragraph 1).
- PE renewal deadline is April 30, biennially: last names A-L renew in even-numbered years, M-Z in odd-numbered years (Paragraph 16).
- Records must be maintained for a minimum of four (4) years for audit purposes; if a claimed CEU is rejected on audit, the licensee has 120 days to substantiate or earn replacement credits (Paragraphs 6 and 14).
- The Board does not pre-approve courses; the licensee determines qualification and the Board has final approval (Paragraph 13).
- Non-qualifying activities include regular employment, real estate licensing courses, CPR/First Aid, personal/financial planning, personal self-improvement, and topics not relevant to the licensee's profession (Paragraph 21).
Provider Requirements
The Board does not pre-approve courses or providers (except courses/activities related to Kansas Minimum Standards for Boundary Surveys and/or Mortgage Title Inspections). It is up to the licensee to determine whether an activity qualifies, and the Board has final approval of CEU credit.
Tips for Kansas PEs
- Front-load HSPW content: at least 24 of your 30 CEUs must be health, safety, property, and welfare related.
- Spread HSPW learning across days — only 10 HSPW CEUs count in any 24-hour period.
- Limit self-study to 5 CEUs per period and keep proof of the final graded test.
- Retain attendance records at least 4 years; if an audited credit is rejected you get 120 days to substantiate.
- Confirm your April 30 renewal year by last name (A–L even years, M–Z odd years).
