Idaho PE CE (PDH) Requirements (2026): 24 Hours Every 2 Years
Requirements Overview
Unlike many states, Idaho's rule prescribes only a total PDH count for professional engineers and does not require any specific subject, including ethics or laws and rules. All 24 PDH may therefore be earned in the licensee's own area of practice. Membership in a professional society counts as 1 PDH per year, up to a maximum of 2 PDH per profession per year.
Idaho is generous on carry-over: a licensee may carry forward up to 30 hours of excess continuing education into the next renewal period. Courses that meet the criteria in Section 3 of the NCEES CPC Guidelines are acceptable, which includes structured online and distance courses; the board maintains no closed provider list. Faculty license holders are held to the same PDH requirement. These rules appear in IDAPA 24.32.01 and took effect with the July 1, 2025 biennial licensure transition.
