Oregon PE CE (PDH) Requirements (2026): 30 Hours Every 2 Years
Requirements Overview
The Oregon State Board of Examiners for Engineering & Land Surveying (OSBEELS) requires 30 PDH per biennial registration period. No topic is mandated; activities must be pertinent to your license or further your professional education, with credit determination the registrant's responsibility subject to Board review.
Two limits shape how you earn credit: self-study is capped at 6 PDH per period, and active participation in a professional society is capped at 8 PDH. Web-based courses, seminars, workshops, conventions, teaching a one-time course, and college courses all qualify. A maximum of 15 PDH may be carried forward into the next period.
OSBEELS keeps no approved-provider list. Documentation must be retained for 5 years and produced on audit. NCEES CPC tracking can be used, but the transcript must be downloaded as a PDF and uploaded into the MyOSBEELS renewal, as Oregon cannot accept transcripts directly from NCEES.

Oregon CE Rules & Limits
Details specific to Oregon that generic CE guides tend to miss:
- Carry-over — A maximum of 15 PDH units may be carried forward into the next registration period. Example: earning 50 PDH lets you use 30 now and carry 15 forward; the remaining 5 are forfeited.
- Oregon requires 30 PDH per biennial registration period for Professional Engineers, administered by OSBEELS.
- Self-study is capped at a maximum of 6 PDH per biennial period.
- Active participation in a professional society is capped at a maximum of 8 PDH per biennial period.
- Web-based courses, tutorials, seminars, workshops, professional conventions, teaching a one-time course, and college courses are all acceptable PDH sources.
- Activities must be pertinent to your license or further your professional education; credit determination is the registrant's responsibility and subject to Board review.
- Supporting documentation of PDHs must be retained for five (5) years and submitted to the Board upon audit request.
- Detailed PDH rules are in Oregon Administrative Rules OAR 820-010-0635: subsection (5) additional PDH source examples, (3) non-qualifying activities, (4) conversion of other tracking units to PDH units.
- NCEES CPC Tracking (MyNCEES) can be used; the NCEES CPC transcript must be downloaded as a PDF and uploaded into the MyOSBEELS renewal (Oregon cannot accept transcripts directly from NCEES).
Provider Requirements
OSBEELS does not maintain an official list of approved PDH providers, courses, or conferences.
Tips for Oregon PEs
- Earn 30 PDH per biennial registration period; there is no mandatory topic, so choose license-relevant activities.
- Mind the caps: self-study counts for at most 6 PDH, and professional-society participation for at most 8 PDH per period.
- Carry up to 15 surplus PDH into the next period; anything beyond that is forfeited.
- Retain your PDH documentation for 5 years in case of a Board audit.
- If you use NCEES CPC tracking, download the transcript as a PDF and upload it into MyOSBEELS — Oregon will not accept it directly from NCEES.
