Nevada Land Surveyor CE (PDH) Requirements (2026): 30 Hours Every 2 Years
Requirements Overview
The Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors (NVBPELS) requires licensees to acquire at least 30 Professional Development Hours (PDH) biennially under NAC 625.430. You report the PDHs accrued over the preceding 24 months on your license renewal application.
Two parts of the 30 hours are subject-specific: at least 2 PDH in professional ethics and at least 1 PDH covering the provisions of chapter 625 of NRS and NAC — Nevada's own engineering and land-surveying statutes and regulations. The Board runs annual webinars (available live or recorded) that grant exactly the 2 ethics PDH and the 1 chapter-625 PDH, making those specific hours easy to satisfy.
Delivery is flexible: NAC 625.470 accepts online courses and self-study (1 hour of self-study equals 1 PDH). NCEES record holders can maintain their records through My NCEES, which the Board can access. After each period, NVBPELS audits a random sample of 100 licensees.
Mandatory Topics
| Topic | Hours | Frequency | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Professional ethics | 2 | Every renewal | Two of the 30 PDH must be in professional ethics each biennial renewal. The Board offers an annual professional-ethics webinar (live or recorded) that grants the 2 PDH. |
| Nevada statutes and regulations (chapter 625 of NRS and NAC) | 1 | Every renewal | One of the 30 PDH must cover the provisions of chapter 625 of NRS and NAC (Nevada engineering and land-surveying statutes and regulations). The Board offers an annual chapter 625 webinar (live or recorded) that grants the 1 PDH. |
How You Can Complete Your CE
Nevada CE Rules & Limits
Details specific to Nevada that generic CE guides tend to miss:
- The 30 PDH are accrued over the preceding 24 months and reported on the biennial license renewal application.
- Within the 30 hours, 2 PDH must be professional ethics and 1 PDH must cover chapter 625 of NRS and NAC; the Board offers webinars (live and recorded) that satisfy both.
- NAC 625.470 was revised to add self-study as an eligible activity, with 1 hour of self-study counting as 1 PDH; online courses are also accepted.
- NCEES record holders may maintain their continuing-education records via My NCEES, which the Board can access to confirm compliance.
- After each renewal period the Board audits a random sample of 100 licensees, who must submit documentation supporting the PDHs reported.
Tips for Nevada PLSs
- Bank the two special hours early: 2 PDH in professional ethics and 1 PDH on chapter 625 of NRS/NAC are mandatory within the 30-hour total.
- Use the Board's own webinars — the recorded professional-ethics session grants 2 PDH and the chapter 625 session grants 1 PDH, covering both special requirements at once.
- Self-study now counts: NAC 625.470 credits 1 hour of self-study as 1 PDH, and online courses from professional organizations qualify too.
- If you hold an NCEES record, keep your CE there — NVBPELS can access My NCEES to confirm your hours.
- Keep documentation for everything you report. Each cycle the Board audits 100 random licensees, who must produce supporting records.
